Whatmore for better cricket infrastructure in Tripura:

National Cricket Academy (NCA) Director of Cricket Operations Dave Whatmore has said Tripura needed to improve cricketing infrastructure to host an international match.

“More fields are required to reduce traffic-jam on the MBB Stadium. The Polytechnique field is good to host domestic matches,” he had said in a recent to Agartala.

He said he would not go for Team India coach and rather would continue to concentrate on ‘own job’.

“I would not even appear before the interview board for selection of Team India coach,” he said adding that he would like to focus on his duty.

Whatmore, who had been appointed to pick up promising young cricketers, is on a four-day visit to Tripura where nine matches of All India Vinoo Mankad Trophy (Under-19) are being played.

Terming the BCCI decision to pick up budding cricketers a historic move, Whatmore said: “I have been moving around the country to choose right cricketers who can fill up vacuum after retirement of former Team India captain Saurav Ganguly and master blaster Sachin Tendulkar.”

“Both Ganguly and Tendulkar are set to bid adieu to international cricket. So there is an urgent need to pick right cricketers so that vacuum can be filled up easily.”
