C.K. Nayudu Trophy

Bengal take command against Asom:

Nov 6: Asom were bowled out for a paltry 51 runs in their first innings against Bengal in the opening day of the U-22 CK Nayudu Cricket tournament played at the DDSA Outdoor Stadium at Dribugarh.

In reply, Bengal were 136 runs for the loss of two wickets in their first innings when stumps were drawn on the first day.

Asom, which elected to bat first after winning the toss, struggled from the very beginning. Except Y Islam (14), none of the batsman could face the three Bengal bowlers -- Chayan Ghosh (4/13), Sourav Roy (3/29) and Debabrata Paul (3/5).

Both the Bengal openers -- Devapam Das and Partha Sarathi Bhattacharjee -- returned to the pavilion without opening their accounts, Susam Ghosh and Arindam Ghosh repaired the damage beautifully and remained not out on 71 and 54 runs respectively.
