October 28: Golf is fast becoming popular in others parts of the country. However, it is yet to catch up in Nagaland due to lack of facilities, but not any more now.
Castle’ AR Golf course was opened by Major General K S Sethi, IGAR (N) on October 28 in the presence of many senior civil and military dignitaries. Incidentally this is the only golf course in Kohima area.
It was the endeavour of HQ 5 Sector Assam Rifles to carve out and establish a golf course in the beautiful surroundings of Chiesema bowl, located on Wokha road approximately 13 Kms from the state capital.
While playing at the golf course one can enjoy the beauty of Zaphu and Lotha mountain ranges, look into Zubza valley and the River and the Northern ridge leading to Kohima.
While designing and developing the golf course, the aspect of arboriculture has also been given its due importance and accordingly flower and fruit bearing plants have been planted in large numbers.
The Castle' AR Golf Course is spread over an area of approx 20 acres. The greens can be played in different combinations for thrill and enjoyment of the players. The opening of the golf course will not only enable the enthusiasts of the game to enjoy playing but will also contribute towards enhancing the tourist potential of the state in future.
