Manipur retain U-19 Girls’ football title:
Nov 17: Manipur retained the Under 19 Girls' football title in the 53rd National School Games 2007-08, which concluded here today at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium at Fatorda in Margao (Goa).
In the final today, Manipur blanked Assam 2-0. N Chanchan Chanu and Naobi Chanu scored for the winners while Assam had to be content with second place.
The Fair play trophy was awarded to Chandigarh while V Jaya Chitra and R Kalpana, both from Tamil Nadu, were adjudged the best goalkeeper and highest scorer respectively.
Kalpana scored 18 goals in the tournament.
Haryana finished third defeating Chandigarh 5-0 in the third place match.
