Manipur's Luwanglakpa swims to bronze:
Imphal, Dec 21: Salam Luwanglakpa Meitei secured a bronze medal in the 100 metre category S.4 free style event in the 8th National Paralympic Swimming Championship at Pune on Friday.
The medal winning feat also qualified Luwanglakpa for the trial camp to be conducted in connection with the Beijing Paralympic.

Assam swimmer felicitated
CM felicitates Bhargav Phukan:
Nov 4: Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi felicitated Jorhat schoolboy Bhargav Phukan who claimed three gold medals at the 53rd National School Games at Surat in Gujarat recently.
The Chief Minister pledged a sum of Rs 25,000 for Bhargav. He also assured Jorhat Swimming Society of finishing the incomplete works at the Jorhat Swimming Pool.
Officials wished Bhargav good luck for the Asian School Swimming Championship to be held in Singapore in February next year.
Secretary of the upper Asom chapter of North East Petroleum Dealers’ Association Vijay Singh Sarda gave a cheque for Rs 11,000 to Bhargav who received an additional Rs 5,000 from Jorhat Swimming Society.

Assam’s record breaking swimmer to be felicitated
Bhargav Phukan, who broke two national swimming records and bagged three gold in the National School Games Swimming Competition held at Surat, Gujarat, recently will be felicitated by the Jorhat Swimming Society on Sunday (Nov 4).
Phukan is a student of the Jorhat Govt Boys’ HS & MP School and a trainee of Jorhat Swimming society.
He had smashed the national record in the 50-metre breaststroke event in the under-14 boys’ category to clinch his second gold.
Phukan had clocked 33.60 seconds to break the previous record set by J Agenshwa of Tamil Nadu in 2003.
The Jorhat lad claimed his first gold on October 25 in the 100-metre breaststroke event in the same category by clocking 1:15:97 minutes. He bettered the earlier record set by Sanjib Chatterjee (1:16:13 minutes) in 1997.
