Manipur in quarter-finals:
Imphal, Dec 16: Manipur defeated Delhi 25-23, 25-17, 25-19 to advance into the quarter-finals of the 30th Sub Junior national Volleyball Championship at Renukoot in Uttar Pradesh as Group A runners-up.
Barring the defeat to Karnataka earlier in the competition, Manipur outclassed Uttaranchal, Bihar and Chhattisgarh besides Delhi in the group phase.

30th Sub-Junior National Boys Volleyball
Manipur taste first defeat:
Imphal, Dec 15: After three wins on the trot in the 30th Sub Junior National (Boys) Volleyball Championship being held at Renukoot in Uttar Pradesh, Manipur on Saturday tasted defeat at the hands of Karnataka.
The southern state coasted to a 20-25, 19-25, 25-21, 25-22, 15-7 win.
Manipur, however, could still make it to the quarter-final if they beat Delhi on Sunday.

Brahmaputra Mail Derailed
Assam volleyball team injured in the accident:
Guwahati, Dec 10: Nine players of the Assam volleyball sub-junior team were among the 63 injured in the Brahmaputra Mail accident last night, team manager Kumud Bora said on Monday.
As many as 12 bogies of the Delhi-bound train had jumped the tracks with five bogies falling down into a ditch in between Rangapatti and Nizbari railway stations, 15 km from Jalpaiguri in West Bengal.
At least one person was killed and 63 injured, many critically, in the accident.
Altogether 30 members of the boys and girls sub-junior volleyball teams of Assam was traveling in the train on way to Renukoot in Uttar Pradesh to participate in the 30th Inter-state sub-junior volleyball meet.
Two injured players of the girls' team were admitted in the Siliguri Railway Hospital and stated to be out of danger. The other players were released after medical aid.
