NCC North East beaten:

Nov 5: NCC Directorate (North East) suffered a 1-5 defeat at the hands of former champions and local outfit Union Academy in the 36th Nehru Junior hockey tournament in New Delhi.

Union Academy, who led 3-1 at half time, should have scored more goals but their forwards missed chances galore.

For the winners Neeraj Yadav (two), Sandeep, Seraj Ahmed and Amit Kumar (one each) were the goal getters. H Premjit Singh reduced the margin for North East side.

Northeast schools register victories in Nehru Junior Hockey:

New Delhi, Nov 3:

Two teams from the North East -- Young Pioneers School, Imphal, and NCC Directorate -- chalked out contrasting victories to qualify for the super league on a day which saw goal flooding as 36 were scored in four matches in the 36th Nehru Junior Hockey Tournament here today.

G Ningombam hit a brace as Young Pioneers routed Government Inter College,Gopeshwar (Uttrakhand) 6-0 after leading 2-0 at the breather.

Other goal scorers were Langoljam Leejohn, T Anil Singh, C Dayananda Singh, M Amarjit Singh (one each).

NCC Directorate piped Govt. School, Kalpi (MP) 3-2. The two teams were levelled 1-1 at lemon break.

C Bijen Singh, M Khelen Meitei, Gurumayum Bishan Sharma (one each) scored for the winners. Vinod Kumar, Sandeep Kumar (one each) were the goal getters for Kalpi school.
