19th All Assam Bodybuilding Championship

Hiranya bags Mr Assam crown:

Golaghat, Dec 10: Hiranya Kalita of Kamrup has been named Mr Assam in the 19th All Assam Bodybuilding Championship here.

Hiranya clinched the champion of the champions title in the two-day meet concluded here yesterday. Arshad Sristi Neog of Jorhat got the best poser award while Dhrubajyoti Banik of Nagaon took the most improved bodybuilder award in the meet where 150 bodybuilders from 12 districts took part.

Former Mr India Bijit Gogoi and gold medellist in the world championship Gautam Kalita were feliciteted by the organisers.

The results: 55 kg (junior) 1st-Raju Hazarika (Sivasagar), 2nd-Bivash Dewan (Kamrup), 3rd-Trailikya Das (Nagaon). Senior: 1st-Shyamal Dev Nath (Kamrup), 2nd-Palash Roy (Sivasagar), 3rd-Ibne Hatibaruah. 60 kg (junior) 1st-Dhrubajit Barik (Nagaon), 2nd-Mridul Chetia (Jorhat), Jatin Thapa (Jorhat). 65 kg (junior) 1st-Bhaskarjyoti Saikia (Biswanath Chariali), 2nd-Bhuban Rabha (Kamrup), 3rd-Gaurav Rajkhowa (Charaideo). Assam Club Football Championship

Nagoan club meet Golaghat side in the opener:

Guwahati, Dec 6: Ninth AP Bn, Nagaon, will meet Coaching Centre of Golaghat in the inaugural match of the 12th Assam Club Football Championship which will get under way at Bokakhat from December 11.

Altogether 24 teams are taking part in the tournament.

As per the schedule released by the Assam Football Association, three clubs from Guwahati -- ASEBSC, Assam Police Blues and FCISC -- will be seen in action during the tourney.

FCISC will play its first match against Town Athletic Club, Barpeta on December 12.

Assam Police Blues and ASEBSC, both of which will start their campaign from the quarter-final stage, will play their first match on December 19 and December 18 respectively.

Oil India Limited will also kickoff their campaign from the quarter-final stage of the meet on December 19.

Two other teams -- 2nd ASRF and Karbi Anglong -- will also begin their campaign from the quarter-final stage on December 18. The semi-finals are slated for December 20 and 21 and the final will be played on December 23.
