3rd Manipur State League

SSU, Singjamei on top after round nine
Imphal, Sep 21: Goal difference continues to be the deciding factor in the race for the title of the 3rd Manipur State League football tournament with SSU, Singjamei replacing TRUGPU, Nambol on top of the points table at the end of ninth round today while reigning champion NISA, Thangmeiband humbled TRAU, Tiddim Road 4-0 at THAU ground.
NISA would be leaving for Tripura tomorrow to participate in the zonal level Federation Cup football competition.
Hosting USA, Khurai at Lilong Chajing ground today, SSU handed a crushing 4-0 defeat to the visitors with Gaichungam Kamson opening the score account in the opening minute before goals from L Dewan (31st), Kh Ratan (53rd) and AS Thamreishang (67th) took the match from the opponents' grasp.
At Nambol, home team TRUGPU outplayed MPSC 2-0 to tie SSU at 21 points with the Singjamei side pipping their nearest rival on goal difference. Naoton (31st) and Surchand (84th) were TRUGPU goal scorers.
Goals from M Bijen (19th), Benjamin Kamson (75th), S Bikram (84th) and O Pritam (90th) fetched NISA maximum point and the third place in the standing on 21 point.
Playing at home, ESU (Wangkhei) held on its 69th minute goal by Ph Cheitei to edge past PYC, Phoudel.
In the day's other matches NEROCA downed NLYC, Churachandpur at Liberal College, Luwangshangbam ground as YWC, Thambalkhong and AMOFA, Moirang played a 3-3 draw at Thambalkhong.
After taking an 8th minute lead through L Nabachandra, NEROCA fell behind 1-2 as K Thangoulian struck in the 36th and 54th minutes before H Amarjit emulated the rival player's feat to slam in a brace within a span of four minutes (74th, 77th).
In the keenly contested YWC versus AMOFA match, H Roshangliana (10th), Th Inaotomba (28th) and Lalrintvanga (84th) scored for the Moirang side while Palmei Poupangai (42nd), W Daniel (59th) and Lensang Khongsai (88th) led the YWC fightback.

2nd Manipur State Football League:

RACC Churachandpur hold AMOFA:

Moirang, Dec 17: RACC Churachandpur held AMOFA, Moirang, to a 1-1 draw in the 2nd Manipur State Football League 2007-08 at Moirang College ground on Monday.

The home side opened the score with Stephen Hmar’s 44th minute goal before Lalrintluanga equalised for the visitors 76 minutes into the game.

MPSC, AMOFA advance into 51st CC Meet quarter-finals:

Imphal, Nov 28: MPSC defeated Lenlai Club, Churachandpur 3-1 as AMOFA, Moirang overwhelmed KFC, Kakching 4-1 this afternoon to top their respective groups and advance into the quarter-finals of the 51st Sir Churachand Singh Football Tournament at Mapal Kangjeibung here.

In the last Group E match, AMOFA struck late in the first half to open the account when Daniel L Hmar tapped home in the 40th minute.

The Moirang side pumped in three more goals after the change of ends through Stephen Hmar (47th) and Joychandra's brace (69th, 75th) before Alpha Tongsin netted the KFC consolation goal in the injury time.

AMOFA had defeated the group's third team DM Rao, Sekmai 2-0 with KFC edging past the Sekmai side 2-1 in their earlier matches.

In the MPSC versus Lenlai Club match later in the day, Ch Ojit took the lead for the police side with a 49th minute opener before his second in the match coming 77 minutes into play after N Maimu Meitei had converted a penalty award in the 72nd minute to extend the lead.

Lalminthang headed in Lenlai's only goal of the match five minutes from time.

MPSC topped Group F by virtue of its 3-1 win over PYC, Phoudel earlier in the competition.

PYC and Lenlai had played out a 1-1 draw.

The group stage will conclude tomorrow (Thursday) with USA taking on YAC at 12.05 pm and NEROCA to face off against KRYPSA at 1.45 pm.

Shooting Medal:

Nov 3: T Aruna Devi became the second Manipuri to win a medal in the 17th All India GV Mavlankar Shooting Championship which concluded at Agra on Nov 2.

After H Sanahal Singh clinched gold in .177 peep sight air rifle 10 metre individual event earlier in the competition, Aruna added the second medal with a total of 529 points out of 600 in the 50 metre small bore sports rifle three position event, according to Manipur Rifle Association.


Churachandpur girl wins gold in Asian Weightlifting:

Nov 3: The Kom Rem Students' Union has congratulated Hmangte Parneichong Kom

of Khonomphai village in Churachandpur district for her gold medal winning performance in the recently held Asian Weightlifting Championship at Amman (Jordan).

Parneichong competed in the 69 kg class and claimed three gold medals with lifts of 75 kg in snatch and 95 kg in clean and jerk.

The Union will accord a warm welcome on her arrival at Tulihal Airport for which all the Kom Rem people are urged to join the reception ceremony.

Oct. 30: Imphal-based 14 Bn NCC will represent North East region in the All India Jawaharlal Nehru Hockey Tournament (U-17 boys) which will be held in New Delhi from October 31 to November 13.
