Bodoland Martyrs’ Gold Cup

Mohammedan Sporting vs Chirag United in final:

Kokrajhar, Dec. 17: Two Kolkata outfits, Chirag Football Club and Mohammedan Sporting Club, will clash in the final of the 8th Bodoland Martyrs’ Gold Cup football championship to be played at the Kokrajhar District Sports Association ground on Tuesday.

The winners will take home a cash prize of Rs 50,000 and the runners-up Rs 25,000.

On their way to the final, Chirag defeated North Dhaka Sporting Club of Bangladesh 4-1 and OIL 4-0, while Mohammedan Sporting got the better of Assam State Electricity Board and Customs Sporting Club 3-1.

Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) chief Hagrama Mohilary will be the chief guest in the final.

In the first semi-final on Saturday, Mohammedan Sporting defeated Customs Sporting Club, Calcutta, 3-1.

In the second semi-final match on Sunday, Chirag defeated Oil India Limited, Duliajan 4-0, with Ashin Das scoring two goals in quick succession in the 35th and 37th minutes.

Striker Daillo Manaeuo scored the third goal for Chirag in the 46th minute.

Surajit Chakravorty further consolidated the score in the 81st minute taking the score to 4-0.

The meet started on November 31 with 14 teams in the fray. Tickets were priced at Rs 10 and Rs 15 at the 8,000-capacity ground.

The organisers, however, noted that the demand for tickets this time was less than during the earlier editions of the tournament.

Bodoland Martyrs' Gold Cup Football

Kolkata Customs enter semi-finals:

Kokrajhar, Dec 13: In the second quarter-final match of the Bodoland Martyrs' Gold Cup Football Tournament at Kokrajhar District Sports Association ground here Kolkata outfit Customs defeated Assam Rifles 2-0 on Thursday.

Amar Sarkar was the star of the match who scored both the goals in 17th and in added time respectively. It was, however, a keenly contested encounter and both the teams created several openings.

Friday’s match: Uttar Dhaka XI, Bangladesh vs Chirag United, Kolkata.

Bodoland Martyrs’ Gold Cup Football

Assam Rifles in quarter-finals:

Kokrajhar, Dec. 10: Assam Rifles, Tezpur, on Monday edged past Sports Authority of India SC, Guwahati, 4-2 in tie-breaker to book a berth in the quarter-finals of the 8th Bodoland Martyrs’ Gold Cup football championship, which is under way at Kokrajhar District Sports Association ground.

Rajesh Das drew first blood for Sports Authority in the 34th minute. The equaliser for Assam Rifles came off the boot of Santa Singh in the 86th minute.

With both the teams failing to score any more goals, the match was decided through penalty shootout where Assam Rifles goalkeeper Dinesh Singh helped his team win by saving three shots.

Naoba Singh, Thoiba Singh and Santa Singh scored for Assam Rifles in the tie-breaker, while Birdwm Basumatary netted the lone goal for Sports Authority.

On Tuesday, Oil India Ltd, Duliajan, will play Green Valley Sports Club, Guwahati.

Bodoland Martyrs’ Gold Cup Football

Guwahati SAI move ahead:

Kokrajhar, Dec 7: Spirited SAI Guwahati boys trounced Indoor Blues 3-0 in a second-round match of the Bodoland Martyrs’ Gold Cup Football Tournament at the Kokrajhar District Sports Association ground here on Friday.

Bipul Khanikar put SAI ahead in the third minute, while Robiluchan Basumatary enhanced the margin in the 30th minute. Bipul completed the tally in the 75th minute.
